The 83rd annual Academy Awards will be held at the end of the month, and I’m already looking forward to a glitzy, star-filled evening, watching my favorite actors walk the red carpet. I’ve seen a couple of the movies up for nomination for Best Picture (how awesome was the lovely Natalie Portman in Black Swan?!) and I am definitely rooting for a couple of them to take home an Oscar.Â
Naturally, I’ve taken my ‘rooting’ one up and I have placed a number of bets on the Academy Awards through sports betting sites on the internet. Check out the HUGE range of Oscar betting options at these sites under their Novelty Betting sections – it makes for amazing reading at some of these online casinos.
So, if you care to know who I’m backing for this year’s Academy Awards, my favorites are as follows:
Best Picture – The King’s Speech – Tells the story of the relationship between King George VI of Britain and his speech therapist, as he struggles to overcome his stammer.
Best Actor – Colin Firth – For his role in The King’s Speech. With odds of 1/33 at most bookmakers, I guess I’m not alone in my total admiration for Firth in this amazing role.
Best Actress – Natalie Portman – For her role in Black Swan.Portman blew me away with her portrayal of an obsessed ballet dancer, and I after I read how she trained for this role for an entire year, I am backing her all the more. And yes, her beauty was definitely in her favour and, yes, I am deeply, deeply envious of her fiancee, Benjamin Millepied.
Best Supporting Actress – Hailee Steinfeld – For her role in True Grit. Gotta love this 14 year old kid who blew in from nowhere to grab herself an Oscar nomination. Odds of 3/1 currently being offered on Steinfeld’s chances of taking home an Oscar.
Best Director – Tom Hooper – For directing The King’s Speech. All the reasons why I loved this film are thanks in part to the incredible directing abilities of Hooper. If anyone deserves this Oscar, it is definitely this truly gifted man who is currently enjoying odds of 4/5.
