How To Play Three Card Poker

Weather you play online or you head down to your favourite casino you will notice that "Three Card Poker" is blowing up really fast and its popularity is continuing to grow. Playing the game can be difficult to new comers but once you learn to master the game you will love it.

When you play the game the dealer will shuffle one deck of 52 cards. Playing online or at a casino you have a choice to play Play/Ante or Pair Plus. This game is actually 2 games in one. First Play/Ante you have the option to play against the dealer to see who has the best hand with the 3 cards. Where as Pair Plus you have the option on wagering on whether or not you will be dealt a pair or better from the dealer. Depending on where you play you sometimes are required to make an Ante Bet in order to bet Pair Plus part of the game.

Now that you have an general understanding of Three Card Poker the next step is learning how to play. When the game starts you have to make an initial ante bet or if you want you can make a pair plus bet. You will be handed 3 cards face down from the dealer, you will then make a decision on your cards. If you have a good hand you would raise, and if you have a bad hand you will fold. Now, once you feel you have a winning hand you will then have to raise with an additional wager equal to the size of the ante bet. Once everything is in order and all cards are down on the table you will expose them seeing who has the winning hand. In order to win against the dealer, you must have 3 cards better than the dealer, Ex 5,5,5 three of a kind would beat the dealers 3, 3, 9 a one pair. In order for the dealer to win he must have at least one Queen in his hand or better. If the dealer qualifies and you have a winning hand you will be paid on both the ante and the raise.

3 Card Poker Hand Rankings

If you play the typical 5 card poker its a bit different than 3 card cause of the shortage of cards. The cards are ranked from highest from lowest. At Casiob we have compiled a list below to help you understand the Three Card Hand Rankings:
High Card - This is the highest card in your 3 cards dealt
Pair - You would have 2 cards of the same rank ex 3,3
Flush - You would have 3 cards from the same suit K, K, k
Straight - Having 3 cards in order of mixed suits
Three of a Kind - Having 3 cards of equal rank
Straight Flush - Best hand having 3 cards of the same suit in sequence ex. 3-4-5 of hearts

Three Card Poker Rules

The dealer gives you only 3 cards for the whole game
If you make an Ante you must raise or fold
The dealer has to turn over his cards
In order for the dealer to qualify he/she must have a Queen or higher in the 3 cards dealt
If the dealer does not qualify that means you win even money on the Ante
If you tie the dealer then the ante and the play bets will push
